The Bitlr jQuery plugin is an unofficial jQuery client for the Bit.ly API that allows developers to shorten long URLs into a shorter form.
This is done via simple HTTP API requests, and the result is retrieved, processed, and displayed on the page as soon as possible.
A fully-working Bitlr example is included with the plugin package.
